Student of music from age 5 taking organ and trumpet lessons in school, then in high school studied tuba, trumpet and piano. In college, studied music theory, experimental song-writing and classical pipe organ at the University of Wisconsin. Bruce has made music his life-long passion. Bruce has evolved his live band repertoire from classic rock, to singing Sinatra in a 25-piece orchestra and now to dance, hip hop, country and pop music. His bands have included Scarlet Rain, Shadow, Playing in Traffic, the Brew City Big Band and now front-man for This Side Up.
Andy started playing drums in middle school and continued on through college as part of the marching band. After school, he got involved with a local original band, Deflection. Wanting something a little heavier, he joined an original band called My Alibi, a female led rock band similar to Evanescence. My Alibi later morphed into another original band called Ember Burning. With the breakup of Ember Burning, Andy got together with former frontman Jason and they decided to put together a unique project that would become This Side Up.
Sid picked up the guitar in high school after seeing a friend play Nothing Else Matters and instantly fell in love with the instrument. Professionally, he has changed careers multiple times, but the guitar has always been a constant in his life. Originally from India, Sid has played in multiple heavy/progressive metal bands and was gigging actively in the latter part of the 2000s.
Sid took a break from playing live due to his hectic work life but once he finally found the time to get back into it, he saw Andy’s classified about TSU needing a guitarist, decided to contact him and the rest is history.....
Loren's musical background started at the age of 11 years old when he began playing stand-up bass in the school orchestra. Soon after, he received an electric bass and played through school in the orchestra, jazz band, and even played bass in the marching band. Some musical influences include John Entwistle, Geddy Lee, Paul McCartney, and Les Claypool. Loren has played in several local bands in the past years ranging from rockabilly, punk, to classic rock.
